Michael Carberry graduated from the Royal College of Art in 1996, and set up his workshop at Cockpit Studios, London, the following year with a setting up grant from the Crafts Council.
His distinctive style of jewellery owes a great deal to sculpture, with his hand forged rings, bracelets and neckpieces looking as if they have grown from the metal. Using precious metal they are hammered and forged into strong bold forms that capture the force and energy involved in the process.
His work has featured in exhibitions both in the UK and internationally, and is owned in public and private collections. He recently finished a two month prestigious residency at Cove Park, Scotland. www.covepark.org
He also teaches and runs courses for both beginner and experienced jewellers.
